A new 40,000 SF data center for a nationwide Tier 3 co-location and cloud services provider. Floor designs of 200 watts per square foot and more required 5MW of stable primary and backup power. WCL designed the new primary power and paralleling switchgear systems utilizing existing and new utility and emergency generator services.

Numerous designs for US Cellular included over 250,000 SF of office, IT, and call center renovations, FM 200 fire suppression systems, 400 KW uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, fire alarm and life safety renovations, data center and IT design, and design and modification of emergency power systems.

The challenge was to design a new 250 kVA UPS system and keep the old UPS up and running with only a few hour shutdown changeover in this data center for a major Chicago law firm.
A detailed design and engineering plan allowed the contractor to complete his work on schedule, with no outages, no data loss.

In addition to the demands of a project with a tight schedule, the existing IT infrastructure of this 100,000 SF call center needed a complete renovation.
We upgraded the existing 400 kVA UPS and added new IDF rooms, FM200 and 24/7 AC systems.

As part of a comprehensive energy study, Weber Consultants recommended changes to the Salvation Army’s data center to substantially reduce energy consumption and increase reliability. The 100 ton chiller and evaporative cooler were removed and the new redundant A/C systems were scaled to the current load. A new generator provided the backup for the entire data center.
